Paul Alvarez, former PBA Star arrested for hitting live-in partner

Retired professional basketball player Paul "Bong" Alvarez also known as PBA's "Mr. Excitement" was arrested last April 23, Sunday, after his live-in partner charged him with domestic violence, police said.

His live-in partner name Mary Ann Dunca Ting filed the complaint at the Baguio City Police Station 4 told them that Alvarez hit her on their way home in Purok Cudirao in Loakan Proper.

Alvarez will be facing violations of the Anti-Violence against Women and Children (VAWC) or Republic Act 9262.

Police said Alvarez and Ting were drinking earlier Sunday evening at the Burnham Ganza Restaurant when they started to have an argument, which they later patched up but on their way home, the two had another argument, and then Alvarez started hitting Mary Ann.

This is not the first time the retired PBA star was involved in this kind of issue. Back in October 2016, Alvarez figured in a brawl in a Quezon City bar. Alvarez also got involved in another incident when he attacked a taxi driver in August 2007 and in that same year in a domestic dispute with his ex-wife Almira Muhlach.
