In an interview, Sergio told DZMM that she had a job ready for Veloso in Malaysia, but Veloso dropped her offer after and said she already found herself another job.
''Kusang loob silang pumunta ng bahay. Mayroon akong witness na makapagpapatunay… Nag-iiiyak pa nga sila dahil sa nangyari [kay Mary Jane] sa Dubai na nagkasala siya ng pagnanakaw kaya siya na-deport."
Sergio said Veloso then left her at the hotel where they were staying without notice. She said she later received a phone call from Veloso.
She said Veloso first told her that the job would be in Singapore, but she then changed her story and said that she would be going to Indonesia.
''Ang huli niyang sinabi sa akin papunta siya ng Singapore. Sabi ko 'Ano? Bakit mo ko iniwan?' Iyan ang sinabi. Basta sabi niya sa akin, 'Bahala ka na Ate Tin sa pamilya ko.' Iyun lang po yung last naming pag-uusap,'' she said.
Veloso and her family said that it was Sergio that gave her (Veloso) the luggage that was later found containing more than 5 pounds heroine hidden in its linings, but Sergio denies giving the luggage.
''Iyan po ang hindi ko na po alam kung sino ang nagbigay sa kanya ng maleta. Dahil noong umalis siya sa hotel, hindi ko na po alam, nang umalis siya dahil iniwan niya po ako,'' Sergio said.
''Nung umalis siya, 'di ko alam na may maleta na siya dahil madaling araw na po, lumipad na siya tapos tumawag na lang siya na nasa airport na siya."
Sergio turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday at the Nueva Ecija police in Cabanatuan City to seek police protection amid death threats, she now faces human trafficking and estafa charges together with her live-in partner Julius Lacanilao.
Mary Jane Veloso has been spared from execution by the Indonesian government Thursday morning after the Indonesian attorney general responded to calls from Manila that she should be spared to act as a witness against the woman expected to be charged with trafficking her which is Sergio.
